On the work
Slow looking
Luminous sapphire, turquoise, and midnight blue blossoms surge across a warm blush-pink ground. The composition opens around a central gilded Eslimi spiral that gathers and releases the surrounding floral sprays in soft, rhythmic pulses across the wide rectangular field.
Executed in gouache and gold on handmade paper board, the artwork contrasts cool mineral blues with the delicate warmth of the paper substrate. Fine-line gold leaf brushwork outlines the curling petals and central vine structure, adding a delicate metallic sheen across the matte pigment ground.
The compositional logic balances radial expansion with figurative poise. Six bird figures, rendered in sapphire tones with wings and crowns brushed in dawn-gold, drift among the thicket of blooms. Their placement creates an organic visual cadence, guiding the eye across the multi-layered floral field.
Under shifting ambient illumination, the powdered gold accents and gilded spiral catch subtle highlights, while the deep indigo and cobalt blues retain their rich matte depth. The soft blush background provides a tranquil field that anchors the vibrant blue palette.
At 79.6 × 106.2 cm, Sapphire Garden offers an expansive and serene presence. Its synthesis of rare color harmonies, intricate Eslimi geometry, and poetic guardianship makes it a contemplative centerpiece for prominent collection spaces.
