Majestic Spring

A central bird figure reposes at the heart of an expansive gold field, its attention fixed quietly on a deep burgundy Khatai blossom. The composition opens with immediate lyrical stillness, positioning the central bird within a rich ornamental garden of naturalistic floral forms.

Executed in gouache and gold on handmade paper, the surface features a broad application of shell gold across the ground field rather than as line accent alone. Deep burgundy, vermilion, and soft natural pigments define the floral lobes, creating a striking contrast against the warm, luminous metallic ground.

The compositional logic operates in the Gol-o-Morgh (bird-and-flower) register. Rather than drawing the eye outward to a decorative border, the arrangement curves inward toward the central bird and blossom, establishing a private sanctuary within the golden space.
